Happy Half Birthday!

Can you believe it?!  Evie is 6 months old!  It has been a whirlwind of a month...as all months have been since she was born. I know I am a few days late in my post.  I am Monday-Friday in the summer instead of Tuesday-Saturday AND I am attempting to finish renewing my teaching license before the end of the month...and I am attempting to go to bed early!

In the last month had a lot of firsts... we celebrated my first Mother's Day, finished Evie's first 'semester' of Early Childhood Family Education (ECFE), visited Tyler's Kindergarten class room,  began Evie's FIRST solid foods...and so much more.

My first mother's day was fabulous. John let me sleep in...awesome.  Made a great breakfast- then surprised me with a massage that day.  I got to get out of the house...ALONE and get a massage...whaaat?  Then enjoyed dinner at home the three of us.  So good!

At her 6 month appointment she is 17lbs 7oz (71%), almost 27" (86%) and her melon is still in the 95%.  Her busy lifestyle has thinned her out a bit...but still our big girl!

Evelyn is still a busy bee.  She has really perfected her sitting, and has BEGAN PULLING HERSELF UP! yeah, I about died the first time, too.  She is only 6 months old!  She is doing a tiny bit of scooting, no substantial movement, but trying- yet when she does start moving we are really in for something new!  She likes when you help her stand and walk.  She will walk all over the house...we are so in for it...  She loves to give 'hugs' and when someone is holding her and she wants to go to someone else..she will lean to them.  Evie thinks the dogs are hilarious.  Always smiles when she sees them.  She loves to touch them, and we have to remind her to be gently...sometimes she get a good handful of fur (and chubb) and they look at her like "ah that kinda hurts"- they are so tolerant with her.  Don't worry we are safe with them together...and make sure she doesn't irritate them too much :)

We have a little play area in the corner of the living room.  She likes to be surrounded by her toys and just play.  Cracks me up that she has her favorites...loves her some Sophie Giraffe, Taggie Puppy and this Bright Stars Teether...she also loves her Very Hungry Caterpillar rattle!  I found this great activity table at a local garage sale- instrumental in her pulling herself up!  Nana spoils her rotten, and she got some 'early birthday presents'.  She loves to ride in her Princess Cozy Coupe...check out the picture below, and her pimped out wagon.  Seriously there are 4 cup holders.  John and I are excited to use the cup holders for more adult like beverages...

She loves to eat.  So far we have tried avocados, bananas, sweet potatoes, and apples. She loves, loves it.  I gave it a whirl to make it at home.  We have a magic bullet, so I have been steaming the food (usually in a microwave steamer bag), pureeing it in the magic bullet with a little water to make it smoother- then freezing it in ice cube trays.  SO easy, and I feel good about the fact I know what is in it! We then thaw it out, microwave it for a bit- add some warm breast milk to make it even smoother and done!  Evie is a little diva when it comes to her food, she likes it warm. Not like luke warm- or room temperature- like almost HOT.  If it's not, she pushes it out with her tongue like 'honestly, you expect me to eat this cold?!'.  Fine by me if she eats it all when its hot, can't complain!  Evie continues to be a good eater otherwise.  No teeth yet, so nursing is still a going well.

She has been a fairly good sleeper.  She has a pretty strict bedtime.  I mean strict as in- she has a meltdown if she isn't in bed around 7:30.  She is the one who keeps us on top of it!  Even if she has napped later than usual, she likes her bedtime!  We have 'dinner' of cereal, and she likes if we start getting that ready around 6:45.  She eats, gets a bath, nurses, then goes to sleep.  Funny girl.  She then will usually sleep until around 3-4am, nurse, then back to sleep until almost 6am.  Yes.  6am.  Freaking early.  However, when you think about it, she has already slept about 10 hours by then...so I cannot complain! Its just mama and papa like to stay up a little after evie goes to bed...so we just have to sleep earlier.  We think her teeth are close to coming through so the last couple weeks we have had a couple rough nights.  Thankfully J has taken some of those late nights...and I have taken a liking to coffee.

ok time for the photo dump!

5 Months

Again, time passes so quickly and I can't believe we have a 5 month old!  She is still very busy.  We have had a big month...we have a cereal eater, a roller AND a sitter!

Just after her 4 month doctor appointment, dr said we could start cereal, she LOVES it!  We did rice first, and a few days later tried oatmeal.  After trying both, she seems to like oatmeal more, but we add in a little rice to use up what we have.  Most of the time you can barely spoon more into her mouth fast enough! She also likes it very warm, borderline hot.  If it is not warm enough, she refuses it. Just like her bottles! Little stinker! We are excited to start trying other foods.  She loves to eat, so I am sure it will be super fun.

Being the little stink she is, of course she had to do things backwards and sit before she even began to roll.  The big girl started sitting a few weeks ago, and then the next day rolled from her back to her front.  We are still waiting on the front to back roll, but being the little girl she is- it will be on her time and her time only!

She is still busy, busy, busy.  Since it has been nicer outside, we have been trying to get out as much as we can.  She seems to love being outside, and the fresh air is such a nice change to inside.  She is always looking around and is into everyone else's business.  She still loves her jumper and exersaucer.  She loves to give 'hugs' and touch people's faces especially mama, papa and nana.  She loves to look outside at the trees and when she's inside she smiles at the dogs, and if they are all by us and you ask where they are by name, she looks right at the correct one.  It very well could be all coincidence, but I think Evie is a genius :)

She is still a great eater, and sleeper.  Again, still working on the naps, but she is rigid about her bedtime, and likes to begin her routine by like 6:50 pm and asleep by 7:20-7:30pm.  If we start any later it can be meltdown city.  It is nice for us as we can watch some shows and get a few things done before we go to bed.  (Total downer for our social life...as if we had one before!)

Here is our month in pictures.  I am loving Instagram right now!

 Loving her Oatmeal!

About to go outside...my favorite hat!

Playing in her Jumperoo!

Outside on the deck in her exersaucer.

Same day...pooped out from all the fresh air!

5 month fun pics

It was a quieter morning...she was so serious!- had a little cold yesterday, still recovering :)

Our little Evelyn continues to allow us to fall deeper and deeper in love with her daily.  She is our 16 pound rolly poly bundle of joy.  We love to see what new things she will show us each day.   I am excited for my first mother's day with Evie- already received cards from my mom, sister and lovely friend Anna. So thoughtful :)

hope all is well with you and yours...

4 Months :)

Wow!  I seriously cannot believe we already have a 4 month old!  We are definitely out of the 'newborn' stage...so does that just make her an infant or a baby? Sounds lame...because she is so much fun...both do not to justice to how busy she is.  Anyway, we have 'busy girl' on our hands.  She loves to be in her Jumperoo and exersaucer.  We are lucky to have had so many wonderful hand-me-downs she has lots of options :) EVERYTHING goes into her mouth.  She loves her Sophie Giraffe just chews, chews, chews on it!

At her 4 month appointment on Monday, our little pork chop is 15 lbs 10 oz and 25.25" long and is in the 90th percentile!  Our little bug has a big melon and is in the 97th percentile for her head!  Poor thing had to get two shots, she just gets pooped out and a little crabby...nothing some extra snuggles can't fix.   We got the OK to begin some rice or oatmeal cereal.  Of course I ran to Target to get some...the shelves were empty, like so empty I had to take a picture to send it to John.  I was shocked! So, I will get some in the next tonight to try...I'm excited!

She has become so interactive and is so fun.  We always call her our 'Funny Girl' or our 'Busy Girl'...she is so BOTH.  She is always smiling (of course unless she is tired!) and loves to be busy, busy, busy.  Whether it is her being in her jumperoo, at ECFE, under her play mat, in her high chair, baby bjorn or being held.  She loves to look at everything, and be in everyones business.  She is close to rolling and sitting.  Such a strong girl. She loves to talk and squeal...or as of the last few days grunt! It's too funny.  We have a feeling once she starts talking...she'll never quit (but listen to her mama, nana and aunties....cousins and babci...haha)

We had some darling three month pics taken, but I haven't gotten them into my computer yet (cut me some slack! This whole working mom thing has me busy...and I need my down time watching shows!).

The biggest accomplishment this month was getting her from the 'Rock and Play' sleeper into her CRIB.  It was a hard transition as the rock and play is at a slight incline, so all of the sudden sleeping flat took some getting used to.  We did the pack and play in our room for two weeks, then put her in her room...just like a big girl!  She did awesome.  I think it was significantly harder on me than her, yes, in case you were wondering I am doing ok with the transition.  Now we are working on putting her down drowsy and not snuggling her to sleep...we will get there! It's just mainly me being selfish and wanting to snuggle my baby all the time.

She is still sleeping really well, and eating well, too.  This 'over producer' may be able to quit pumping in the next month or so and still have enough for Evie drink breast milk for her ENTIRE first year.  Yeah, so I am not joking when I say over producing.  Our entire standing freezer is full of Beef (we bought our first 1/4 cow...yum!) and Breast Milk.  I know, probably TMI for some, but if you know me well...I tend to overshare!

Here is our super cutie...
